A unique history provides the roots for Aeroglide's experience in the polymer industry. During the rubber demand crisis prior to World War II, Aeroglide's C. G. Sargent’s Sons company was specifically chosen by the United States Defense Department to design conveyor drying systems for thermal drying of many different grades of synthetic rubber. After the war, these synthetic rubber processing plants were sold into private industry, becoming some of the major synthetic rubber and elastomer producers we know today. Aeroglide's continued product development and testing has taken the place of older design data and has provided the industry with greater processing options. This depth of knowledge of dryer design in elastomer and synthetic rubber applications have allowed companies to expanded their operations globally into other specialty polymer markets.
In the last decade, acrylic based gel polymers, such as flocculants and super absorbent polymers (SAP) have allowed Aeroglide to expand on specific polymer dryer designs. Special conveyor dryer designs are needed to thermally process these highly sensitive products. Designs include heavy-duty, robust dryers capable of withstanding elevated temperatures providing the necessary tolerances for thermal expansion. Continuing dryer development and installations with some of the industry's largest producers have made Aeroglide the preeminent supplier of SAP dryers worldwide.
dryer designs courtesy of the National Drying Machinery Division are widely used in the production of many specialty polymers. Fluoroelastomers and laminating films are regularly dried using the National style dryer. Because of the fine and precise handling requirements for these polymer based products, National has developed, through countless years of research and product analysis, various dryer designs highly tuned to specific thermal processing characteristics. Special design requirements may include precise conditions for airflow and temperature uniformity, special grades of steel and surface finishes for sanitation, or highly specific PLC based control systems for moisture regulation and monitoring.
Emerging markets in hydrogel and biopolymer technologies offer unique thermal processing opportunities for Aeroglide to assist customers. Coupling Aeroglide's range of thermal processing solutions, with a multitude of robust dryer designs from which to choose, gives our polymer producing customers the greatest opportunity to succeed.
